Blog 12: Young Adolescent Collage

I have made a collage of young adolescent development. In the collage I have different pictures of physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Physical- The pictures I use for the physical development is the girl trying to cool down from the fan and the girl trying to pop a pimple. The girl with the fan to cool down down because of her sweet glands. The girl with the acne on her face might be coming from her sweating so much and she is going through a change. Young adolescents go through so many changes around this age.

Social- Social development of young adolescents is when they are trying to fit in and hang out with certain people. I added pictures of group of people talking to each other and leaving out one of their friends. Young adolescents are peer pressure by their so called friends and they start to make the wrong decision. The picture on the bottom left hand corner, the boy with the pink shirt is trying to make the other boy smoke. The boy in the blue shirt said no but sometimes people can peer pressure you to do something that you don't want to do. Another picture that I have in my collage is the one with a groups of boys making fun of another boy.

Emotional- In my collage I put a picture of different kind of emojis because young adolescents go through so many different emotions at once. It can be hard for them to deal with all those different emotions because they don't know how to handle them just yet. One minute you can be happy about something and then you can sad about something. Thats one of the biggest things that middle schoolers go through and try to figure it out so thats what teachers are here for. Teachers can help them learn how to deal with their emotions.

Cognitive- This development deals with important part of the body which is the brain. In my collage there is a picture of the brain. Young adolescents are developing new and different ways of thinking. Every brain understand things in a different way, everybody learn at a different pace. As teachers we have to understand that each student comprehend differently then others. Let them know that ok because everyone is still learning something.

Your choice of images give me a good idea of the things that are sticking out to you in the course. I enjoyed seeing what. Your descriptions are clear and show a good understanding of YA development.
