Blog 16: Learning Community

I believe that a learning community is space where students can share their goals and new ideas. They will be able to learn and listen to each other about what they are discussing. Learning communities give students a safe environment where they can be themselves and explain how they feel. To build up a effective learning environment, students have to trust each other. Have students work in groups affective, so they can start understanding each other and to be able to learn from one another. You want your students to be able to ask their peers for help, or if they have a problem with something go to each other. Once they ask each other for help, students will be able to understand the content in a different way then before. A learning community is important when working with young adolescents because this help students to learn how to communicate with their peers about different things. This is helping young adolescents to work as a team with their classmates. Each student brings something to their team to make better. They are encouraging each other to push themselves. It's one thing for teachers to encourage them, but it's another think for them to encourage each other, themselves. Young adolescents are starting to make their own decisions, opinions and friends. They go through so much and sometimes they don't know how to deal with it or talk to about it. Educators will always be there for them but sometimes they need a peer to support them. A learning community is good for them to help peers that they can rely on with things get hard, peers that will help you to succeed.

Hey Ashley, I agree 100% that a learning environment needs to foster safety and security for its students to best succeed!
